New Belgrade Airport infrastructure passed for operation

Bernie Baldwin

Comprehensive upgrades signed off at Serbia’s largest and busiest airport.

Operational testing of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport’s new infrastructure capacities – the Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) – has successfully completed. After finishing new gates for remote access, the airport performed numerous functional and operational tests confirming the gates are compliant with operating procedures.

Testing simulated real flight handing, from check-in to boarding, including entry and passing through security control. Three scenarios were tested: passenger entry into buses to board the aircraft, boarding passengers via pedestrian corridors at the apron (directly to the aircraft) and system behaviour when under simulated fire conditions in the passenger waiting area.

All activities were performed in line with recommendations and health care measures prescribed by the relevant competent institutions.
